Hachette Illustré, as a division, comprises a dozen imprints, all of which publish illustrated books in a great variety of editorial genres: comics and graphic novels, under Editions Albert René and Pika; travel guides, under Hachette Tourisme; coffee-table books, under Hazan, E/P/A and Chêne; how-to books, under Hachette Pratique and Marabout; and children’s books under Hachette Jeunesse, known for its perennial series. All in all, Hachette Illustré publishes around 2,400 new titles every year.

The Guides Bleus, which have been published in France since 1841 (under the title Guides de Voyage Joanne), are still the gold standard in cultural guidebooks; the Un Grand Week-End series includes suggested visits, the best addresses and unique experiences to enjoy on city breaks; the Guides Évasion are for independent travelers; and the Voir guides blend rich editorial content with a wealth of illustrations.

  • La Maison Hachette Pratique

    Hachette Pratique is the number one publisher of how-to, self-help and guides in France. It is particularly well-known for its iconic Art-Thérapie and Simplissime collections and covers all categories in the vast genre. Hachette Pratique publishes big names in cooking, like Anne-Sophie Pic, Jean-François Piège, Jean-François Mallet, Jamie Oliver and Yotam Ottolenghi.

    Its catalogue also includes Guide Hachette des Vins (Hachette Wine Guide) and Guide Hachette des Bières (Hachette Beer Guide). Hachette Pratique now also incorporates other areas as home to the imprints Hachette Heroes, which focuses on pop culture, and Le Lotus et l'Éléphant, which specializes in alternative spirituality. Hachette Pratique, which was the first publisher to launch book gift boxes in France, is always innovating to ensure its content and packaging meet the expectations of the widest possible audience.

    Marabout the pioneer in French paperbacks when it was founded, is an innovator that has constantly reinvented itself. Marabout is firmly focused on the lifestyle market and has rapidly become the leader in that segment thanks to its combination of topical themes, original designs and affordable pricing. Its listcovers the entire lifestyle market, including cooking, health and wellness, education, nature, gardening, hobbies, games and sports, and is regularly updated with new collections and innovative concepts that enjoy considerable success, not just in France but internationally. Marabout is also exploring the world of comic books with its Marabulles collection, as well as whodunits with BlackLab and novels with La Belle Étoile.

    Les Éditions du Chêne has built a solid reputation as a publisher of illustrated books for the consumer market by covering a wide range of prestige topics, including art, photography, architecture, fashion, travel, lifestyle and gastronomy. The books on its list are selected for their distinctiveness, eclecticism and uncompromising quality.

  • Les Éditions E/P/A

    Les Éditions E/P/A has developed a list that spans a wide range of topics. They include music, such as the internationally successful La Totale series; nature and adventure titles from the likes of Nicolas Vanier and Mike Horn; film; the humanities; and a host of lifestyle topics. Papier Cadeau, a new imprint, offers gift books, a selection of calendars and planners and fine stationery.

  • Hazan

    Hazan, specialized in art books, publishes essays and monographs by prestigious authors, such as Louise Bourgeois, Géométries Intimes by Robert Storr, which includes more than 900 reproductions of the artist’s works. Hazan also publishes the celebrated Guide Hazan and co-publishes exhibition catalogs with major museums in France and abroad. Préhistoire, L’envers du Temps was awarded the Prix Pierre Daix from the Pinault Foundation, while Cassandre captured the Prix de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts and the exhibition catalog Léonard de Vinci, jointly published by the Louvre and Hazan, won the Prix CatalPa.

  • Les Éditions Albert-René

    Les Éditions Albert-René holds all rights to the Asterix books and all other works co-created by Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny. Asterix is a phenomenal international success with 370 million books sold in 111 languages and dialects. Astérix chez les Pictes (Asterix and the Picts), the first book to be written by someone other than the creators of the famous character, was published in 2013; this thirty-fifth book in the series was the publishing success of the year. Three additional adventures, the most recent published in 2019, have seen similar success, each selling more than 5 million copies worldwide. Les Éditions Albert-René also manages film and audiovisual rights for the entire body of work in France and abroad. The Asterix movies have been major box-office hits: the four live-action films have sold more than 100 million tickets worldwide, and the nine animated movies have attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers. The most recent feature-length animated film, Le Secret de la Potion Magique (Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion), was released in France in late 2018 and became France’s most successful animated release in the past decade, with four million tickets sold. There is also a theme park near Paris devoted entirely to the iconic character and his world. Owned by Compagnie des Alpes, it has attracted almost 50 million visitors since it first opened in 1989 and has seen exceptionally strong growth in recent years.

  • Pika Édition

    Pika Édition, with more 2,000 titles in its catalog and more than 350 new releases a year, is a manga publishing company since 2000. It publishes in French several iconic series such as Attack on TitanGTO and Sailor Moon. True forerunner in original creation, Pika Édition has been publishing Reno Lemaire's Dreamland manga series since 2006 (still ongoing). It is the longest-running French manga series ever published. In 2016, Pika Édition acquired the children's manga publisher nobi nobi ! since then, the catalog of this publishing brand has grown considerably, offering manga adaptations of famous licenses such as Star Wars and Miraculous, as well as manga for young adults with the Genki collection, spearheaded by the Horimiya series. After 24 years of success in manga, in 2024 Pika Édition launched Pika Wavetoon, a label dedicated to the publication of Korean webtoons in paper format.

  • Bragelonne

    Bragelonne was founded in 2000. Today it is the leading French-language publisher of fantasy.  It has published quite a few big names in the genre, including both international and Francophone authors such as David Gemmell, Andrzej Sapkowski, Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan and Pierre Pevel. Bragelonne has grown consistently over the past 22 years. Though it was originally a single imprint, Bragelonne is now home to nine different imprints in a wide range of genres: Bragelonne (fantasy), Hauteville (romance), Castlemore, Big Bang and Fibs (YA), HiComics (comics), Mangetsu (manga), Milady (paranormal romance) and Bragelonne Games (games).
